The Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Specialist is responsible for reinforcing a culture of cleanliness and product performance at specification. In addition, this person oversees the sanitation strategy and programs used in the design and operation of our plants. This person will support Plant QC Managers, Manufacturing Systems Engineers and Scientists, and leaders in their efforts to achieve and maintain standards and practices.


  • Provide oversight for environmental and phage monitoring processes and clean-in-place practices
  • Analyze data and help plants monitor adherence to specifications
  • Participate in microbiological investigations and foster continuous improvement of sanitation practices
  • Provide guidance and mentoring for plant sanitarians
  • Facilitate the corrective action process to remediate deficiencies
  • Review and audit accuracy of processing sanitation records
  • Contribute to problem solving efforts in our manufacturing facilities

Organizational Relationships
The Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Specialist reports to the Corporate Quality Assurance Manager and works with others in Technical Services, Operations, and Engineering to improve the business.

Schedule and Travel
Typically, work days are 8 hours, Monday through Friday beginning at 7:30 to 8:00am unless the work requires other timing. Frequent travel is expected.

Education and Training

  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in food science, dairy science or related discipline is required
  • 8 years of relevant experience is required
  • Experience working with state health departments and third-party auditors.
  • Data analysis, statistical process control, and problem solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of the PMO, 3-A Standards, sanitation, dairy microbiology, and food safety.
