Quality Technician Job Description

Jeni’s is looking for Quality Control Technicians to help make the world’s best ice cream and support the production and bakery facilities meet their production goals. We’re looking for folks who have an eye for detail and will champion efforts towards making the world’s best ice cream. Quality Control Technicians will be required to enforce all food safety and employee hygiene guidelines outlined by our GMP and HACCP programs. In addition, technicians will be expected to audit all logs or forms for regulatory purposes on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and assist the Regulatory Manager in routine quality checks for raw ingredients, jobs in progress, and finished product.

You’ll also be expected to know and understand what makes Jeni’s unique and help to protect the culture and quality of our ice cream and bakery products. You’ll be required to work a flexible schedule and be on-call nights and weekends to troubleshoot issues as needed.

You will be responsible for:
Troubleshooting and resolving issues on the floor related to quality and food safety
Assisting the production team in ensuring compliance with regulatory entities
Assisting in daily, weekly and monthly environmental sampling and analysis
Reviewing and tracking quality defects, investigating sources and recommending processes to improve current systems
Performing and evaluating product testing to determine compliance with FDA/ODA regulations and Jeni’s quality standards
Assisting in execution of sanitation programs
Keeping upper management apprised of quality and food safety issues as they arise

To be qualified, candidates must

Have an Associates degree in dairy, food sciences or equivalent
Have food safety knowledge or previous experience in a food production facility, 1-3 years preferred
Have experience with medium to large production and kitchen equipment
Be familiar with GMP, labeling, and HACCP standards
Posses strong communication, analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills

Preferred:
B.S. in food science or related field

Required experience:

  • quality control experience : 1 year
