Position Summary:

  • Assures consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good manufacturing practice systems; validating processes; providing documentation; ensuring food quality. Serves as backup for the QA Manager in their absence.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems.
  • Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.
  • Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
  • Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
  • Updates job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in quality management; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enforce safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Make sure the workplace is safe and clean. Responsible for reporting all violations of safety and other policies. They must ensure that the companyís exposure to risk is minimized by following all safety regulations.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
  • Develop, implement and maintain food quality and food safety programs.
  • Ensure that the packaged product, packaging components and raw materials have the proper disposition and comply with all the requirements for finished product.
  • Provide ongoing development and education of Quality Inspectors including inspection techniques, product specifications awareness, maintain an up to date knowledge of all food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain HACCP Standards, ensuring compliance, keeping all records current.
  • Manage microbiological program including: sampling, testing, holding and releasing procedures when QA Manager is absent
  • Manage environmental monitoring program
  • Write test methods and equipment operating procedures.
  • Directly manage lab technicians when QA Manager is absent
  • Assure that labeling, packaging, warehousing and cleanliness are appropriate to avoid customerís complaints
  • Track and document non-conforming materials when QA Manager is absent
  • Order and control of lab supplies when QA Manager is absent
  • Fill out microbiology forms according to customer specifications when QA Manager is absent.

Position Requirements :

  • Associateís Degree in Food Science or related field.
  • Must have 1-2 year(s) of experience in quality assurance.
  • Must have work experience in GMPs and statistical methods of handling & reviewing investigations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
