Overview:

Reports to Sr. Director of European Imports, Inc.

Oversee all Food Safety and Quality Functions and manage the overall Food Safety Program at the plant level

Oversee I Conduct Daily Pre-Operational Sanitation Inspection of facilities

This position is for European Imports (a subsidiary of Sysco Corporation) located at 2475 North Elston Ave., Chicago, IL 60647.

Responsibilities:

HACCP Program

Maintain HACCP program for European Imports, Inc. Perform HACCP verification and validation activities.

GMP Program

Inspect the Warehouse on a routine schedule. Monitor deficiencies and track corrective actions. Lead Food safety team with GMP and Food Safety focused projects. Inspect Distribution Center quarterly.

Sanitation Program

Establish and maintain detailed written procedures for the cleaning of all processing equipment and facilities. Perform verification and validation activities on the program.

Allergen Program

Coordinate elements of the allergen control program including ingredient labeling, segregation, storage, cleanup process, verification of cleanups, and validation of cleanup.

Monthly Verification Activities

Provide monthly management reports on Food Safety Prerequisite programs and HACCP program.

Training

Train employees in required food safety and/or quality related topics.

Oversee Recall Program

Administer Recall and Traceability Programs including Mock Recalls.

External Audits

Assist with Regulatory audits, 3rd Party inspections, customer inspections when necessary.

Administration of the Quality Assurance program to include

  • Pest Control program development,
  • Foreign Materials control,
  • Product Quality Assurance,
  • Supplier Approval program for non-branded products,

Other responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Science or Biological Science from four-year College and minimum three years’ experience in Distribution Center Foodservice Operations, Quality Assurance/Control, R&D or Supplier Production/Operations required.

Skills Needed

  • Thorough knowledge of Quality Assurance I Quality Control Programs and Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Plant Sanitation, HACCP, and SSOP's
  • Computer literacy: Intermediate-Level Spreadsheets, Word processing, and Statistics.
  • Organizational & Planning Skills with the ability to Prioritize
  • Strong Communication: Oral & Written
  • Analytical problem solving and decision making
  • Leadership and Teaching Skills
  • Negotiation/Persuasion Skills
  • Must be Flexible and take Initiative
  • Detail-Oriented with a Strong Focus on accuracy of work.
