Smithfield Foods Packaged Meats Division is
currently looking for a Labeling Specialist in Lisle, IL.
WHAT DOES A LABELING SPECIALIST AT SMITHFIELD FOODS DO?
The Labeling Specialist ensures that all product labeling (film,
labels, cartons and other) is in compliance with USDA / FDA regulations.
Works closely with cross-functional groups (R&D, Graphics, Marketing)
in the development of new products, updated formulations and all related
packaging materials. Prepares and processes label approvals (USDA,
Temporary, CN, Generic) and reviews and approves
all graphics for government compliance. Acts as a resource across Corporate
and Plant locations, providing Regulatory guidance and fielding technical
questions. Effectively manages project timelines and priorities.
Key Accountabilities: •Review and approve all labeling materials to ensure regulatory
compliance •Prepare, submit and track all USDA label approval requests •Field regulatory questions from internal stakeholders and across
plant locations •Ensure accuracy of ingredient statements and nutritional data •Maintain approval database, e-library and labeling logs •Work closely with R&D to maintain formulation database •Research and respond to consumer inquiries (nutritionals,
ingredients, allergens) •Participate on cross-functional project teams •Research regulatory matters as indicated •Act as point of contact for CN / CFIA / Export approvals and
AM I QUALIFIED TO BE A LABELING SPECIALIST? To be considered for
this position, you must meet the following requirements:
•Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or
university in a related field required, with 3-5 years of USDA / FDA
Labeling experience. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a
degree (10+ years direct Labeling experience without a degree). •Strong working knowledge of USDA regulations •Sense of urgency; ability to manage multiple priorities •Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail •Self motivated, with strong
communication and problem-solving skills •Knowledge of Genesis, Product Vision or other formulation
applications preferred •MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
