This position is responsible for performing activities necessary for successful management of R&D elements of the SAP software system which manages company wide resources.  Leadership for the R&D interfaces of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and specifically the Recipe Development (RD) module which contains product specification data essential to food safety, regulatory compliance, production, and product performance of $8 billion in Pilgrims product sales.  Position will be the RD system, business process, Sharepoint site, and training leader, serving as a liaison within R&D, with other corporate departments, and over 30 plants involved. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                        

  • Basic understanding of food/meat science principles applied to ingredients, processes, and products.
  • Ability to work within a database software system, and execute data management and performance standards.
  • Analytical thinker with an effective and organized approach.
  • Experience in participating in cross-functional teams to achieve a common goal.
  • Ability to understand the needs and relationships of functional areas involved with Product Specifications.
  • Strong communicator, internally and externally with all levels in corporate and plants.
  • Decision maker with the ability to make timely and accurate decisions based on current information and

previous experience.

                                               

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with R&D product specification owners in the development, change management, and maintenance of over 10,000 ingredient and product specifications.
  • Build concept to commercialization product development skills and execute assigned projects.
  • Initiate projects for the continuous improvement of R&D data within the PLM software system database.
  • Execute efficient and comprehensive workflows around current and/or revised business processes.
  • Understand and communicate to affected teams and stakeholders the impacts of system changes on databases
  • and business processes.
  • Trouble shoot system user technical questions, and execute business specification project needs.
  • Educate system users in system capabilities to improve product quality, drive simplification, and identify cost savings thereby optimize return on system investment.
  • Prepare required documentation in accordance with Pilgrims documentation standards.
  • Develop and execute software functionality test scripts, and resolve issues in collaboration with IT.
  • Other associated tasks as determined by the Research and Development department. 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s in Food/Meat Science preferred with skills in database software, and food ingredients and products.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Preferred 0-3 years of related experience to successfully perform the duties of this job.
