Food Safety Specialist

POSITION PURPOSE: Manage the documentation, implementation, verification and validation of the comprehensive Food Safety Plan as required by the Food Safety Modernization Act. Function as the co-author of the plan and the implementation facilitator to assure that all necessary documents are created, that all necessary awareness training is conducted and recorded, that all necessary monitoring programs are in place and functioning as intended, that all supporting programs are fully functional, that corrective actions are implemented and documented when necessary and that all required records are created and retained as described in the regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  • Write, modify, and maintain the Figiís Food Safety Plan as defined by FSMA
  • Create and implement prerequisite policies, procedures and programs necessary to fully support Figiís comprehensive Food Safety Plan
  • Conduct the Hazard Analysis for the full list of potential hazards for each food category that Figiís packages, holds or ships and fully document the preventative measures in place to protect these foods.
  • Oversee Figiís Supplier Qualification Program including annual on-site audits of key suppliers to assure necessary preventive controls are in place to protect Figiís products.
  • Maintain all FDA facilities registrations for Figiís Companies, Inc.
  • Create and conduct associate training to assure full organizational understanding of FSMA programs and their requirements as related to GMPís, Sanitation, Allergen Control, Record Keeping and other supporting measures.
  • Establish and maintain the record creation and retention policies as mandated by FSMA.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years managing food safety and quality programs. Posses sufficient experience and obtain enough FDA recognized training to be considered a "Qualified Individual" by FDA and a credible author of Figi's Food Safety Plan.
  • Skills : Must have effective written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills required. Analytical and a strong decision making with good problem solving skills. Must have ability to perform well in a fast paced environment under pressure. Proficient in Microsoft applications with willingness to learn new software programs.
  • Education : Bachelorís Degree in Food Science or Technology

Required experience:

  • Managing Food Safety/Quality program: 3 years
