The Quality Control Specialist is an integral part in ensuring the company produces the highest quality products as well as staying in compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements. Our goal is to continuously improve our processes and execution in producing and supplying the best product possible to our customers.


  • Lead in the development, implementation, continuous improvement, and continuing education in the areas of Food Safety & Quality, Regulatory Compliance, through self-audit activities to ensure that the company’s objective for food safety, regulatory mandates, compliance, meets or exceed standards for the ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System a recognized Global Food Safety Initiative Standard.
  • Maintains facility certifications and regulatory licenses. Provides documentation to auditors applies for renewals and leads certification audits.
  • Maintains plant documents required for facility certifications.
  • Act as plant liaison with FDA and department of Agriculture.
  • Work to develop and continuously update and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Develop, implement and maintain a statistical control programs (SPC).
  • Implement, lead and maintain, calendar for production employee training on all related food safety maters.
  • Monitors raw product conditions by inspecting, analyzing and approving or rejecting incoming ingredients and supplies
  • Notify and stop shipping as need to prevent product with potential food safety or Regulatory issues from being shipped.
  • Assists in holds and releases of raw materials, in-process and finished product.
  • Ensures that regular reports of product status, including raw material, and finished product, holds and corrective actions, are completed. Initiates and leads investigation of hold issues.
  • Manages the sanitation program of all food production/handling areas and equipment to ensure AMES food safety standards are in compliance.
  • Oversees the Pest Control program in the facility through coordination with the contracted pest control service representatives.
  • Works with Production and Operations team to develop, implement and manage programs related to product and process quality, food safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Conducts audits of programs and processes.
  • Identifies opportunities, provides solutions for improvements and collaborates with managers to address and correct any issues discovered.
  • Develop, implement and maintain a weight control program of all processing lines in the facility, as well as other loss-control programs.
  • Helps develop and maintain a Quality budget.
  • Coordinates QA efforts with R&D and plant involving new product launches, trials, and installations.
  • Maintains and executes calibration calendar for equipment.
  • Coordinates all research and development testing on associated projects.
  • Maintain Kosher Certification program with Orthodox Union.
  • Investigate all customer complaints


  • Minimum of BS in Science / Food Science / Technical Discipline
  • 3-5 years experience in working in a regulated food-manufacturing environment with familiarity of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Experience in scientific method and report writing
  • Understanding of plant production systems, FSMA, SQF, GMP, HACCP, sanitation, plant safety, quality systems, kosher and organic regulations


  • Familiarity with American Institute of Baking (AIB), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards, SQF, and well versed in FDA, CFR, Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)
  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to read, write and understand polices, guidelines, specifications and safety standards
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced, fluid environment
  • In rare cases be willing to work variable work shifts when needed
  • Employee must have no known food-related allergies to the following products: Milk, Eggs, Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Wheat and Soy Products.


This job operates both in a professional office environment and manufacturing facility. Future opportunities include annual visit to our India facility for oversight and team building. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
