Position Purpose:


This position is the dedicated resource to support Cargill cutting edge innovation projects in edible oils area.

The person will be supporting product development experiments to deliver new healthy oil solutions.  This position will be supporting innovation projects by  performing processing experiments,  including enzymatic and chemical interesterification, new antioxidant system development and formulation screening, conducting sensory and analytical tests as a part of prototype evaluation. This work focuses on innovative development of cost effective products for major customers, food service market, and benchmarking of competitive offerings to properly position Cargill products.


Principal Accountabilities:

·         40% - Support HII/HIII projects per study plan and instructions; provide bench support to processing experiments,  including enzymatic and chemical interesterification, new antioxidant system development, formulation screening, and prototype evaluation

·         20% - Conduct sensory tests with minimal supervision; collect and analyze data, issue sensory reports

·         10% - Maintain laboratory documentation; document laboratory tests on food products and oils

·         20% - Conduct instrumental analysis following standard and official methods

·         10% Assist senior scientists on delegated tasks


Relocation assistance will not be provided.




·         Bachelor Degree  in Chemistry, Food Science or related field

·         Ability to conduct oil blending and other tasks independently

·         Ability to lift 35 lb routinely

·         Documented experience in awareness of safety.

·         Solid understanding of research methods, including data collection and analysis

·         Attention to details in technical report preparation and record maintenance

·         Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)

·         Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills

·         Effective interpersonal and team working skills

·         Ability to organize multiple priorities on dynamic schedule, prioritization skills



·         M.S.  in Food Science or related field

·         Sensory evaluation methods

·         Experience with Food Science techniques: moisture, color, texture evaluation

·         Food safety and  food operations experience

·         Self driven, skilled in work planning and execution, seeking out for self development and improvement
