ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1) New and Revised Product Introduction 

• Independently coordinate and conduct production-related tests in support of new or revised product development. 

• Communicate effectively with R&D, Production, Quality Assurance and other departments to resolve issues and ensure smooth commercialization of new or revised products. 

• Create, revise and maintain the Bill of Materials, routings, flow charts and other supporting documentation for new and current products in compliance with ISO and other applicable management systems. 

• Follow and actively encourage all departmental procedures, GMPs, quality and safety standards. 

• Promote a positive, team-oriented environment. 

• Perform all other work as required. 

2) Projects: Process Development, RM and PM Cost Down 

• Develop new processes when needed in cooperation with R&D, production and engineering, utilizing technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment, people and existing processes. 

• Develop and maintain industry expertise in support of new and existing processes. 

• Oversee testing and analysis of replacement or alternate raw and packaging materials in support of cost down and stable supply initiatives. 

• Responsible for proper communication of potential changes to management. 

3) Quality and Consistency of Existing Products 

• Work with R&D and QA departments to establish quality assurance specifications, equipment and process specifications and testing requirements for process control for new and existing products. 

• Communicate sensory and technical directions to production to ensure consistency of product quality as necessary to establish regular ongoing quality performance on production lines. 

• Facilitate technical and quality related training of production employees. 

• Investigate non-conforming products and assist with root cause analysis. Make suggestions for corrective actions. 

• Comply with all company policies and procedures. 

Candidate Requirements: 

  • Bachelors Degree (BA or BS) from a four year college or university in food science or related field; plus three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 1 year of food industry experience, knowledge of food processing equipment (especially forming, heating and freezing) is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience with problem-solving.
  • Must have excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Computer knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
