KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES: Manages and conducts multiple, independent and complex research projects, typically of significant impact to the organization, requiring considerable resources (people, time, money, etc.) and involving complicated/numerous concepts (i.e. "key" customer projects, accelerated shelf-life studies, new products, etc.) Interfaces regularly with various internal departments (i.e. Marketing, Purchasing, Engineering) and customers in accomplishing project milestones.Prepares prototype products using research lab, pilot lab, manufacturing facilities and equipment, as required.Provides solutions to a wide range of difficult problems by applying advanced technical knowledge and extensive experience.Sets-up, operates and maintains pilot lab and research lab equipment.Selects and evaluates raw materials.Designs and conducts shelf life studies, including product and package performance under various conditions and makes recommendations for appropriate adjustments in product and/or package as required.Makes presentations of results and recommendations to various groups, both internally and externally.Works with outside labs, universities, ingredient suppliers, and equipment vendors as needed by project activity.Maintains accurate, up to date records, laboratory notebooks and computer database that repeatable and reproducible.Performs measurements and statistical analysis.Leads, trains and mentors technicians.
