Supports product development projects pertaining to FerraraCandy Company’s business areas: Brands & Seasons, Private Label, andContract-manufacturing. Assists scientists in conducting, developing andorganizing findings on research projects as well as leading own projects andimplementing new production. Conducts lab testing and prototyping prior toscale up.



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be ableto perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Executes various product development projects including, but not limited to: sugar confectionery, chocolate confectionery, ingredient applications and mogul depositing technology.
  • Works with R&D, Engineering and Manufacturing staff in project execution, technology transfer, and problem solving
  • Develops laboratory skills based around confectionery manufacture.
  • Leads production of lab produced samples to marketing and sales team under the supervision of R&D Scientists and manager.
  • Observes, records, and evaluates experimental data.
  • Documents formulation and scale up records.
  • Communicates project status updates directly with scientists and project managers.
  • Assists in reverse engineering of competitive product and developing equivalents.
  • Seeks out new processing techniques and science to create and introduce unique and interesting products to the confectionery industry.
  • Looks for new ideas on product and process across the product range.
  • Attends training on lab equipment software systems, and confectionery courses.
  • Travels both domestically and internationally up to 25%.
  • Ensures adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Understands and demonstrates the Company's core values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

§  General knowledge of food science, confectioneryinterest preferred.

§  Ability to learn quickly and apply knowledgeacross a wide range of applications

§  Capable of keeping work space clean andorganized

§  Interest in project management to lead up to 5low visibility projects when available at any given time

§  Comfortable operating laboratory, pilot plant,and plant equipment.

§  Strong verbal and written communication.

§  Self-starter with strong initiative to seekimprovements.

§  Able to apply strategic thinking, exhibit acollaborative mindset, and suggest innovative solutions.

§  Capable of working efficiently and staying ontask and timeline.

§  Naturally blend in with fast paced productdevelopment.


Educationand Experience

§  Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry,Food Engineering or similar scientific field, or equivalent experience

§  Entry level

§  Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
