Food Chemist- Confectionary/Bakery Products
Lab Support - Philadelphia, PA

 

 

This position is based in NJ, but will offer relocatoin. MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH: oils, fats, confectionary products

RESPONSIBILITIES

Utilize knowledge of Food Products R&D, Applications, Formulation, fats, oils, AOCS methods to work with customers to develop ingredients for finished confectionery, baked goods, or dairy products
Interact with key customers partnered with sales through assisting with customer projects, providing concept ideation and demonstrating food technology (oils, fats, etc.)
Conduct fats and oils analysis
Assist in identifying market trends leading to creating/ developing new application of oils, fats systems within confectionery, baked goods, chocolates, dairy products.
Conduct and oversee pilot plant trials.
Perform laboratory experimentation and data analysis and communicate results to peers, colleagues, and customers
Write product specifications
Provide laboratory support and consultation to international sales team
REQUIREMENTS

BA/BS, preferably in Food Science or a related field; Masterís degree preferred.
3+ years of experience in R&D, Applications, Formulation role within the food industry
Background in fats and oils highly desirable
Familiarity with AOCS (American Oils Chemists Society) is highly desirable
R&D background in confectionary, dairy, or baked goods products required
Good client / business development skills to foster customer relations
Must have excellent communication / presentation skills to interface with multiple internal departments & existing and potential customers
