Summary/Objective

The Regulatory and Compliance Labeling Specialist is responsible for creating and assuring compliance of federally regulated ingredient labeling information, including component group, labeling phrases, ingredient usage limits, allergens and claims. This role also addresses regulatory issues pertaining to ingredient labeling and claims (e.g. Kosher, Organic, gluten-free labeling, Non-GMO, PHO, colors, flavors). Works across functions and communicates with all functional and operating groups on labeling related and compliance matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Provides ingredient labeling expertise and collaborates with Marketing, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Production and external suppliers

·       Reviews, updates and approves corporate labeling designs

·       Develops Nutrition Facts Panels for assigned products, ensuring compliance with all label related health and wellness claimsDevelops ingredient statements and ensures products meet appropriate FDA/USDA standard of identitiesMaintains physical and electronic documents related to labeling and complianceCommunicates cross functionally regarding current and emerging food labeling issues and opportunities and related impact on products and product technology

·       Maintains up to date knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations and policies.

·       Provides input into risk management decisions, balancing regulatory risk with business and operational needs

 Required Education and Experience:

·       Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Foods and Nutrition, or Nutrition

·       2 years' experience required
