The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Food Safety Coordinator (Contract) to lead the Feeding America network in building its food safety capacity by promoting a national culture of food safety, providing support and resources to achieve and sustain food safety compliance and work to become the leader in food safety in the food industry.

Actively manage the national third party food safety auditing program.

Assist Members in transitioning from training to scored third party food safety audits.

Respond to Network requests for third party food safety audits.
Confirm food safety audit vendor is providing timely scheduling of requested audits.

Assure food safety audit vendor is providing timely inspection reports.

Acquire administrative reports from food safety audit vendor for program evaluation and analysis.

Manage and submit invoices for payment from food safety audit vendor.

Coordinate with Product Sourcing team on daily recalls; backup for daily recalls, to vet the product being recalled through national office and then send appropriate emails through iContact and update HungerNet.

Work with Members to promote and practice peer to peer assistance in food safety system development in the network.

Help to further develop and refine national office food safety resources.

Assist in the coordination of the Food Safety Summits and certification trainings.

Field calls and support the Network regarding food safety issues.

Participate collaboratively with other departments.

Promote a culture of food safety.


BS degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Environmental Health or other related area.

HACCP and Seafood HACCP Certification - preferred.

1-3 years of experience in operational food safety and quality assurance.

Excellent oral and written presentation, communication, and project management skills.

Demonstrated ability to attend to detail, focus on service and willingness to learn.

Demonstrated program implementation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
