processor and marketer of value-added frozen seafood. We are seeking a Food
Technologist to support Product Development/ Research &
Development functions throughout the business. The position
is based at our Portsmouth, NH facility.
You will be reporting to the Senior Food Technologist and be responsible for formulating new
products and modifying existing product formulas based on general and/or
specific input from Sales and Marketing channels.
As the Food Technologist, a typical day might include
Generate bench top samples for presentation to inside and outside
customers, while maintaining awareness of current plant process
Design and execute new product line test runs with the production
team. This would include generating line test specifications, analyzing
line test results and providing recommendations for appropriate adjustments
to product formulas and/or processes to keep manufactured product within
desired target cost parameters and organoleptic attributes.
Supplying our Costing Department with detailed accurate product
formulation information to generate product costs.
Troubleshoot and recommend modifications to existing product formula’s and/or processes to improve productivity,
quality, and/or product cost. Generates detailed ECN information when
modifications to product formula or product processes are required.
Supply Global Spec team with detailed product information for
generation of final product specifications.
Maintaining accurate laboratory and project work documentation.
Supporting Sales and Marketing channels with customer presentations
both on and off-site. This requires formal “customer facing” in a
professional manner with a sound working knowledge of company products,
processes, and capabilities.
Assist Culinary with product demonstrations, luncheons, seminars,
food shows, focus groups, etc.
Maintaining your “cutting edge” knowledge of food manufacturing
processes, ingredients, and raw materials as they apply to the seafood
industry and the food industry as a whole.
Substituting for R&D Technicians for sample packing, shipment,
laboratory maintenance, etc. as required.
This job might be for you if:
have a BS in Food Science or related field.
have a 1-3 years related experience in Food Science, preferably with a
frozen value added protein.
