Job Description

Nestle Product Technology Centre Ice Cream located in Bakersfield California is the global center for excellence in Ice Cream and frozen desserts!

 

As Associate Product Developer you will be responsible for creating and conducting experiments in the areas of food science and technology to deliver business objectives under the portfolio of projects assigned. You will also lead investigations and developments related to ice-cream or frozen confections and propose breakthrough innovations. Your key responsibilities are:

 

Innovation/Renovation Pipeline:

 

Work independently or with a team to research the feasibility and functionality of new products/processes.

 

Perform experimental design, literature search and develop formulas and process to deliver project results.

 

Drive new ideas, propose raw materials / process / products /system.

 

Contribute to knowledge development in the field of expertise. Contact and collaborate with suppliers & university to broaden knowledge and open new opportunities.

 

Project Management:

 

Help lead and manage projects: Using a check point framework, define work plans, manage project activities and deliver end solutions including industrialization when relevant.

 

Present/publish/protect important project results to key stakeholders together with other team members and maintain proper documentation records as needed.

 

Technical Assistance:

 

Give technical support to Markets and regional pool requests (following the framework of technical assistance), and provide support to other R&D projects when required.

 

Contribute to knowledge development in the field of expertise. Contact and collaborate with suppliers & university to broaden knowledge and open new opportunities.

 

People and Know How:

 

Participate in expert networks within the Nestlé R&D community.

 

Coach and guide the interns and pilot plant team members

 

Fulfill each of the tasks described above respecting the requirements of the quality management system, food safety, safety of personnel and the environment which are in force in R & D Bakersfield and aligned with the Nestlé Corporate Business Principles and NCE.

 

BS in Dairy, Food Science or Food Engineering with 3 years of industry experience required or MS in Dairy, Food Science or Food Engineering with 1 year of experience required

Nutrition understanding desirable

Experience in ice-cream/frozen food research and/or operations is a plus

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Project management and problem solving skills desired

Basic knowledge of ISO 22000/ Quality / HACCP / Food Safety / GMP preferred

Strong analytical and attention to details desired

Good presentation skills
