Participate as a member of the Quality Assurance Team to assure the safety and quality of corporate brand products. Become a recognized resource within the company for all issues related to product quality and vendor requirements. Assist in developing and maintaining various Quality Assurance Team databases with all pertinent information as well as QA programs aimed at improving product quality, safety and consistency. Act as a regulatory liaison between Giant Eagle and corporate brand vendors.


  • Provide expertise on local, state and federal regulations for food safety and labeling review of assigned food products for conformance with FDA, USDA, state and local governmental regulations.
  • Ensure vendors conform to Giant Eagle Quality Assurance Vendor Requirements.
  • Ensure vendors have in place adequate GMP¿s, SOP¿s, HACCP programs and other various product safety and quality programs.
  • Evaluate product specifications and third party facility audits to qualify products and suppliers.
  • Support Giant Eagle¿s Recall Strategy designed to remove product from shelf during a recall event.
  • Communicate with vendors to resolve issues or concerns regarding regulations, quality, product safety, customer incidents, and food defense for Own Brand products.
  • Maintain and manage all supplier documentation utilizing web-based applications and internal databases for specified category assignments
  • Assist in the development, implementation and administration of Own Brand QA and food safety operational procedures, policies, programs, and systems
  • Advise business leaders on current food safety, regulatory and quality issues.
  • Work with internal departments such as marketing and advertising to verify regulatory compliance with printed communication to customers including in store signage, direct mail, weekly circulars, etc¿
