PrimaryPurpose

Support Ferrara’s Regulatory and Food Safety Compliance byproviding strategic guidance for label generation, nutritional labeling (CFR101), NLEA, and label claims, and by drafting of programs and policies to ensurecompliance with customer specifications, and applicable Local, State, andFederal Food Laws.   

 

MajorResponsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be ableto perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Ensure compliance to all primary and secondary labeling requirements per applicable CFR 101 codes and export regulations for manufactured and purchased finished goods.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary project teams to provide regulatory guidance and communicate regulatory goals.
  • Partner with Research & Development to ensure advance knowledge and understanding of all relevant regulatory trends in the areas of: nutrition, labeling, foods and food standards.
  • Draft programs, policies and documentation for 21 CFR 110/111 compliance.
  • Assist in implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) required for 21 CFR 110/111 compliance.
  • Develop raw material and finished product testing program.
  • Develop vendor qualifications program.
  • Manage 3rd party facility audits in conjunction with Food Safety Manager, including regulatory and customer audits to fulfill the physical and document requirements.
  • Ensures adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Understands and demonstrates the Company's core values.
  • Peforms other duties as assigned.

 

Competencies/Skills/KnowledgeRequired

The requirements listed below are representative of theknowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

§  SQFPractitioner or other GFSI certification required.

§  Technical knowledge of manufacturing, sanitationpractices, HACCP, SQF, BRC, GMP’s and SSOP’s.

§  Technical knowledge of quality and food safety.

§  Strong working knowledge of Continuous ProcessImprovement.

§  Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Educationand Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology, or other relevant degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years in-plant quality and food safety experience in food processing regulatory compliance and nutrition or production development
  • Computer software skills to include MS Office Suite
  • Bilingual/Spanish Speaking preferred
