Job Summary

Develop and carryout projects related to the on-going development of value added products by developing new products and processing technologies that provide a competitive edge.

Essential Functions

  • Work with universities and the food processing industry to develop new products and processes related to cheese production.
  • Develop, coordinate and research projects in the pilot plant and applications lab.
  • Develop and apply new theories to Glanbia products/processes, applications to create advanced, innovative new products and processes that drive competitive advantage and market leadership for Glanbia.
  • Prepare reports concerning the results of laboratory tests or product development trials including next steps and impact on key business initiatives.
  • Collect, read, compile, utilize and synthesize ideas and methods from existing literature, experts, files and publications.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing to provide technical assistance for product development or product enhancement.
  • Ability to work with key equipment vendors for developing new technology that will enhance product performance or process efficiencies.
  • Maintain the pilot plant with necessary supplies equipment needed to successfully and efficiently carry out assigned pilot plant projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science with a minimum of 3 years experience.
  • Experience with pilot plant operations.
  • Familiarity with key vendors who provide functional ingredients and processing equipment used within the food processing industry.
  • Ability to interact with Universities to keep abreast of advancing technologies related to cheese production.
  • Statistical experimental design. Ability to design and efficiently execute multiple projects in a research and pilot plant environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with dairy processing and a pilot plant research.
  • Developed presentation and scientific writing skills.
