Reporting to the Manager,
Microbiology and Food Safety the Quality and Food Safety Specialist leads the
process of conducting risk assessments of Venturing and Emerging Brands
(VEB), and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Identified risks will be
communicated to key stakeholders.
- Capture information, assess it,
and make recommendations to Company management (e.g., senior technical
management and VEB).
- Stewarding cross-functional
relationships with technical teams and other support functions (Quality
leadership, VEB, R&D, Marketing, Co-manufacturing Procurement, and
- Development of creative
solutions to complex technical opportunities
- Keeping up-to-date of food
safety trends in the beverage and broader food industries.
Function Specific Activities: The
following is a list of top Function-Specific activities performed in the job.
- Act as scientific, regulatory,
technical or quality expert and consultant by responding to targeted
questions other departments/business units. This includes acting as a
resource for general information and acting as a consultant for other
technical personnel in the Company.
- Conduct data-based risk
assessments of VEB and M&A. Communicate risks to key stakeholders
within the Company using written and verbal communication.
- Research, identify, and
evaluate new developments of food safety trends, technologies, or
materials (e.g., processing, equipment, and packaging) using various
methods (e.g., review scientific literature, track market trends, attend
trade organization meetings).
- Project management skills
- Advanced knowledge of food
safety and food microbiology
- Design and conduct experiments
to validate food safety processes

Education: Master's Degree Related

- Quality Assurance Principles:
Knowledge and application of food safety and microbiology principles.
This includes the ability to evaluate new and novel processes for risk.
- Experimental Design:
Ability to design and conduct scientifically valid experiments. Ability
to analyze results and present valid conclusions
- Technical Communication
to Non-Technical Audience: Ability to break down or modify complex
technical information as needed to communicate it orally or in writing
to non-technical Company staff (e.g., senior managers, customers or
consumers). This includes the ability to use analogies/metaphors
understood by the target audience to reinforce points. It also includes
the ability to accurately read the audience's level of understanding and
adjust the message/presentation to deliver it at the appropriate level.
- Innovation: Identifying
best practices from the food service and food/beverage industry in the
US and globally
- Food Manufacturing:
Knowledge of and ability to apply food processing techniques processing
techniques. Experience outside of beverage manufacturing is acceptable
