Quality Assurance Lead (Food Safety) - Ingredion - Bedford Park, IL

 

 

 

Position Location:  Argo Plant  Bedford Park, IL  

Business Unit:  North America 
    
Primary Function:  To ensure the continuous maintenance of the facility Food Safety Management System to meet the requirements of FSSC 22000.    
    

Reports To:  Manager, Quality Assurance

Key Deliverables
    
Business:    

Accountable for the organizations development and control of required Food Safety Management System documentation including records to demonstrate effective planning, operation, and control of its processes. 

Manages the effective establishment, implementation and maintenance of an internal food safety audit program.

Manages the verification program for effective implementation of PRPs and oPRPs.

Manages the effective establishment, implementation and maintenance of an internal food safety audit program.

Acts as the liaison with the Certifying Body for FSSC 22000 during certification and surveillance audits and with external parties on matters relating to the Food Safety Management System. 

 

Supports the establishment and development of measurable food safety objectives for relevant functions and levels within the organization that are consistent with the food safety policy. 

Establishes and maintains a cGMP and pest control monitoring program, as well as corrective action follow up program to assure compliance, effectiveness and partnership with the operational groups.

Manages the Adverse Event program for investigation of events that may impact product quality and/or product safety. 

Maintains the returned material program to assure proper investigation and disposition of those materials.

Provide guidance on laboratory Out of Calibrations with regards to product quality and product safety.

Assist with regulatory audits for food and feed grade materials.

 

Agility and  Innovation:   

Reports to management on the Food Safety Management System at planned intervals to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy, effectiveness and any recommendations for improvement based upon audit results, customer feedback, food safety conformance, status of corrective and preventative actions and changes.

Provide interpretation feedback for the Food Safety Modernization Act as well as lead the implementation of Preventive Controls for Human Food and a proposed rule on Standards for Produce Safety within the Argo plant.

Relationships and People   

Works with HACCP Teams to manage the establishment, implementation, maintenance and update of HACCP plan(s).

Ensures effective internal and external communication is established and maintained on issues having an impact on food safety.

Partners with the Q-Note coordinator to ensure Food Safety Customer investigations and CAPAs are completed in a thorough, timely manner.

Ensure that Food Safety Team members and HACCP team member remain trained and adept at their respective roles with regards to Food Safety.

Assist in customer audits of food and feed grade products.

   

Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:   

Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry or related sciences.

Maintains current knowledge of the food safety within FSSC 22000 and customer/regulatory requirements. Experience with HACCP plans.

Demonstrated experience leading and maintaining a GMP and pest control program.

Supervisory experience with demonstrated proficiency in effectively managing relationships and accomplishing tasks through direct and indirect reports.

Significant experience working in a manufacturing environment.
