Director of Food Safety/Quality Systems

Established in 1947 as a tomato repacking company for the Chicagoland area, Anthony Marano Company has evolved to become the largest and most reputable produce provider in the Midwest. GFSI certified through SQF for the past 3 years.

 

Some of the key responsibilities include:

Assist with the delivery, sorting and packaging of safe, quality products in a sustainable and proactive approach

Develop and support an environment to minimize risk to the organization and protect our brands and our customer brands

Assist with development and effective implementation of all food safety, food quality, and sanitation programs and assurance of compliance to all related SQF policies, procedures, and product specifications.

Lead the troubleshooting of complex, food quality, safety and regulatory issues. Identify the root cause, required corrective actions and assure effective resolution.

Proactively identify potential and emerging food safety/regulatory issues/areas for growth and develop strategies to effectively investigate and respond

Support the organization in meeting food safety and quality objectives, goals, strategies, and measures

Assist with food safety related tasks including hiring and on-boarding, trainings, and other growth and development opportunities

Support organizational growth and expansion including key projects and integration related activities

Assist with the development and execution of effective closure of identified gaps

Plan and execute special projects as requested by management

 

Required Experience:

Previous Quality Assurance Management experience, preferably in produce: 4-7 years

Strong Understanding of plant production systems: Including but not limited to; FSMA, GFSI -SQF, GMP, HACCP, sanitation, and pest control

Bilingual: English/Spanish (preferred)

PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) Certified

College degree in Food Science or related field

Preferred Education:

HACCP Certified

GFSI Certification is a plus

 

Additional Requirements:

Must be able to manage and delegate tasks to subordinates

Encourages continuous growth of oneself, company, and team

Identifies/ foresees issues and implements corrective actions to avoid recurrence

Must possess ability to assess the Food Safety department and foresee areas of improvement and necessary

changes for future growth

Must be willing to work with other departments within the organization to create efficiencies and execute

processes (Specifically IT and Operations)
