Job Summary:
This position reports to the Director of Quality Assurance and is responsible for the maintenance and update of all Food Safety programs, supporting policies, and documentation. Other responsibilities include documentation development, organization, and verification as well as data analysis and interpretation to determine the effectiveness and validity of all food systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update policies, programs, and systems needed to comply with the Safe Quality Food (SQF) 2000 System;
  • Maintain and update the HACCP plan and supporting programs;
  • Coordinate the maintenance of individual department (food safety) programs and assist in the development and update of these programs to satisfy necessary food safety requirements;
  • Maintain overall food safety program documentation and records;
  • Schedule HACCP, SQF, Business Continuity, etc. meetings and ensure that the minutes are documented and filed;
  • Assist with development and implementation of necessary training for SQF systems and other food safety programs;
  • Participate in Regulatory and 3rd party food safety audits;
  • Internally audit the facilities in accordance with outlined guidelines in relation to SQF, Regulatory (FDA & WDATCP), and Good Manufacturing Practices;
  • Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices with Employees and Outside Vendor Personnel;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Associates degree or higher in Food Science or food related courses is preferred
  • Minimum of 12 months experience working with food plant quality/safety programs preferred.
  • Experience with Regulatory and/or 3rd Party auditors preferred but not required
  • HACCP Certification preferred but not required
  • SQF (or other GFSI) Certification preferred but not required
  • Internal Auditing Certification and/or experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Possesses working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word to create and maintain necessary documentation for food safety programs;
  • Possesses strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

Required experience:

  • Food Quality/Safety Programs : 1 year
