Position Summary:

Develop & Lead our Food Safety strategy & position our workflows, products & services to enable transformational change within the global market.

Through championing the food safety business, build & deliver a business that leverages the capabilities throughout the wider organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an ongoing 1-5 year strategic plan focusing on product lifecycle and market/customer needs. Ensuring a compelling value proposition with complete solutions for food safety customers (firstly focusing on enhancing current product performance, footprint and workflow) – driving towards complete customer solutions throughout the food value chain.
  • Direct the organization through significantly building and leveraging key stakeholder relationships, ensuring commercial relevance, operational capacity, R & D prioritization and financial robustness.
  • Responsible for delivering outstanding performance and development within food safety product and marketing management.
  • Strong individual contribution to overall revenue goals of food safety testing solutions – proposing sales and budget guidelines and assumptions then consolidate and critically review submitted regional sales plans. Balance product and tactical investments to bridge gap to the annual plan.
  • Support achievement of sales targets. Develop margin expansion through management of product value stream, range rationalization and clear price guidance to the organization.
  • Implement a winning positioning of products & solutions within context of evolving customer requirements and competitive landscape.
  • Identify & act on business/market development opportunities linked to our strategic road map and fully utilize internal governance process to support proposals.
  • Deliver standardized monthly reporting throughout food product and marketing management showing impact of actions on growth trend, counter measures, etc.
  • Develop and implement training programs with a ‘train-the-trainer’ ethos that enables capability and confidence to sell the whole food product range. Working with product management, R&D – including consideration to the entire workflow . (e.g. downstream applications and analysis of results) Supporting Training Manager to achieve impactful and revenue generating training outcomes.
  • Define user and market needs working closely with R&D to develop new products including co-ordination of product technical data – features, benefits and proof – building momentum post launch as well as a compelling customer value proposition at launch.
  • Drive cross functional communication to ensure continuous improvement in line with the demands of the customer.
  • Manage product launch plans including cross-selling plan. Supporting regions during and after launch process;
  • Ongoing care and support of product ranges; fostering strong relationships with key opinion leaders and experts in the field; monitoring customer satisfaction; lost-and-won-order-analysis; competitor activities; new customer needs and sales support materials.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Scientific discipline, PhD/ MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in product management – with a strong track record of commercial achievement in clinical markets and developing markets.
  • Ideally, food market background heading up a food testing lab lab OR contributing to food safety strategy and execution. Well networked. Technically strong. Making succinct summaries.
  • Strong track record in sales achievement with evidence of leveraging product business performance through strong relationships with key opinion leaders.
  • International work experience is highly valued as is the command of language(s) beyond English.
  • Demonstrate a strong track record of achievement in developing and launching products for microbiology.
  • Demonstrate a strong track record of achievement built from market/ customer focused knowledge, marketing concepts and practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management of cross functional teams.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills/ leadership skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skill.
  • Ability to lead and manage through ambiguity.
  • Customer and commercially focused first.
  • Willingness to travel (25-50%).

  • Strong commercial track record in life science/ food/ microbiology product management and marketing from product conception through ‘product recognized as high achiever.’
  • Demonstrate success of working, leading and influencing in a global matrix environment
  • Strong record for developing teams with commercial accountability
