Chief Objective of Job: 

 

The Food Safety Coach,  is responsible for carrying out Quality document review and filing as require for Food Safety program.  Be part of Quality team to drive improvements in documentation process, training, auditing and participate in overall Food Safety and Quality program as needed.  

The Food Safety Coach position works predominantly 3rd shift but may need to adjust hours to accommodate training needs as they arise.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

§        Auditing of paperwork, filing of paperwork, recording gaps identified during auditing, oversee gap closure activities and drive to completion

§        Keep all work areas clean and free of debris

§        Attend and participate in team meetings and WCM activities 

§        Follow Unilever quality standards to include GMPs which include personal health and hygiene, HACCP, allergen control, foreign material control, and product integrity 

§        Review food safety documents, logging inspection results, filing of paperwork

§        Organizing review of corrective actions on regular basis

§        Updating and reviewing plant SOPs

§        Assist training of hourly and salaried employees on an annual basis or when changes occur to SOPs

§        Participating in third party, CFIA,FSSC and Unilever audits

§        Assisting QA technicians and ensuring that tasks are conducted consistently, and meet the needs of the business

§        Maintain, update and ensure consistent execution of current QA programs and internal SOPs and compliance with Unilever standards, CFIA and FSSC requirements

§        Maintain HACCP updates, maintenance, verifications and function as a cross functional liaison to ensure the plant is meeting regulatory and compliance requirements for all stakeholders

§        Assist in follow up and issue any corrective actions, if necessary, based on deviations found in plant documents or resulting from customer complaints

§        Data entry on a regular basis on Unilever Score Card

§        Assist conduct annual and new employee GMP and allergen training, maintain training matrix and revise training programs as required

§        Assist with cross functional SOP development and ensure that facility SOPs and related documents are in correct format, properly stored and distributed as per manufacturing excellence requirements

§        Schedule and conduct monthly GMP, internal and external audits with cross-functional team and identifying opportunities for improvement

§        Assist to maintains corrective action tracker data base to ensure continuous improvement activities cited from internal and external audits are acted upon and remain on track

§        Assist cross functional team completing food safety incidents and investigating customer complaints

§        Assist in developing a constructive work environment through excellent interpersonal, team building skills, open communications, encouraging input and constructive performance management

§        Maintaining an attitude of continuous process improvement and training of employees at hourly and salary levels

§        Assist on executing various initiatives to improve the quality and safety of our process and products

§        Attention to detail – Must have attention for detail for auditing documents to process standards.  Identifying gaps and recording corrective actions.  

§        Continuous Improvement – An awareness of how to use performance measures to identify and prioritize losses in quality area; provides description of problems and can provide monitoring of process or line issues. 

§        Teamwork – Must be a good team member capable of working within a highly effective team; responsible, supportive and reliable. Maintain a professional attitude; treat all employees with respect. 

§         Communication – Can adequately communicate issues, both written and verbal, relating to safety, quality, output, and cost; can provide observations and inputs to support overall team objectives.   Ability to use computer to record and write data, email communication.

B.  Education:

         High school diploma or equivalent GED

 

Part IV:  Work Environment

          Possible cold, wet, hot environments

         Chemical use and handling

         Lifting a minimum of 50 pounds; 

         Must be available to work overtime, extended shifts and alternate schedules

         Required to wear company-furnished safety equipment and uniform

         Work in loud environments while utilizing proper safety equipment 

         Working at heights above 4 feet 

         Standing for extended periods of time

         Repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, twisting, pushing, pulling
