Are you passionate about scientific research?  Givaudan Flavors is currently recruiting for a Research Scientist in our Flavor Ingredient Discovery group.  As a Research Scienist - Protein you will serve as the technical expert for protein chemistry within the Flavor Ingredient Discovery group located in Cincinnati, OH.  This role will include working within a dedicated, protein focused team to develop flavor solutions to protein related applications in line with the business needs of Givaudan.  In addition, the protein chemist will be expected to influence Givaudanís vision and strategy in the protein space as it relates to existing protein sources and alternative protein sources as they emerge into the market place.  Responsibilities will also include working collaboratively with various teams both within and outside Flavors Science +Technology to carry out research projects to address Givaudanís business objectives in the protein space.



        Initiate and execute innovation projects in the area of flavor-protein interactions in complex food matrices.

        Develop technical solutions/ingredients to solve issues related to protein-based food products working closely with product management, flavorists, food application and analytical experts.

        Build and expand the companyís expertise in food protein chemistry.

        Influence the vision and strategy for Givaudan in the protein space.

        Establish and maintain effective relationships with key customers and serve as their technical expert partner.


Success Profile

        Masters or PhD degree in Food Chemistry or Protein Chemistry.

        Working experience with purification and characterization of proteins.

        Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in protein analysis and characterization which includes structure, protein-protein interaction and functionality.

        Application of proteins in complex (food) systems.

        Basic knowledge in sensory science and food rheology and their application to proteins.

        Practical experience in protein extraction and purification techniques, preferably with food grade proteins.

        Well versed in data analysis and statistics.

        Driven to achieve results and inspire team to achieve more.

        Creative and analytical thinking, problem solving, and organizational capabilities.

        Proficient in English, both orally and in writing.
