Food Technologist - Multi-Flow Ė Huntingdon Valley, PA



We are seeking a beverage product development Food Technologist who is experienced and proficient at managing projects from concept to production. Must be self-motivated, dynamic, results-oriented, and able to work in a fast pasted environment and have a passion to create successful beverage products. Our product line includes Fountain-Dispensed Beverages, Frozen Beverages and Liquid sweeteners. The candidate should be able to help our company and our customers expand and improve product lines.

Food Technologist/Product Development Responsibilities


a.      Responsible for the management and execution developing beverage products, from concept to production which align with industry and consumer trends.

b.      Create formulations, including new product development and existing product improvements, development of beverage syrups, ensuring that the product has organoleptic characteristic of the benchmark product. Sensory Evaluation experience preferred.

c.       Initiate the stability and shelf life tests for formulations developed as needed.

d.      Document product specifications

e.      Maintain product spread sheets as it pertains to ingredient and finished goods costs.

f.        Create ingredient and nutritional labels for new and existing products

g.      Research new flavor and ingredient vendors.Network with vendors to develop relationships for product development resources.

h.      Manage ingredient regulatory documents including but not limited to kosher programs, allergen reviews and HACCP risk assessments.

i.        Assist production with new product production and identify issues, improvements and recommend solutions.

j.        Conduct consumer research tools for project execution as needed, e.g., taste tests with sensory guidelines.

k.       Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation (e.g., troubleshooting, conducting preventative maintenance and calibrating).Maintain instrumentation documentation to ensure compliance with industry GMPs.

l.        Maintain, update and circulate the Product Development project outline spread sheet.

m.    Manage and maintain product information in our production/inventory control software as it pertains to product formulation, ingredient inventory and product data assignment.

n.      Assist in Quality Assurance tasks such as critical process checks, internal facility audits, product micro testing as needed.

Required Strengths and Skills
Basic knowledge of food science/microbiology used to make judgments about the safety of ingredients, beverages, formulations and manufacturing techniques and storage conditions.

Ability to recognize and protect proprietary information as it relates to formulas and ingredients.

Skill set to network and liaison with lead members of the sales team in order to manage product development project outlines and customer goals.

Excellent communication and time management skills

Proficient in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Power Point) office applications and ERP systems

Extremely professional, easy to work with, highly dependable with a strong work ethic

Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast pasted environment

Knowledgeable in Beverage Processing GMPs, HACCP, SQF and FDA food safety regulations

Knowledge of beverage processing equipment and processes is a plus.


Required Professional Training

Bachelorís degree in Food Science, Food Technology or related degree minimum 1-3 years Product Development experience.Beverage development desired. ††Considerable Practical experience and product knowledge maybe considered in lieu of a Bachelorís degree.
