QA Lab Supervisor - OSI Group

Location: Fort Atkinson, WI




Supervise a Food Microbiology and Chemistry Laboratory within a ready-to-eat USDA establishment. Interact closely with Production, Processing, Sanitation, R&D, Purchasing, Sales, and H&R Departments to establish an efficient and orderly technical lab. Since a large share of our business is foodservice, working jointly and satisfying quickly the needs of our customer’s QA, R&D, Processing, and Food Safety Departments is a high priority.



• Supervise, train and develop laboratory QA staff.
• Establish and monitor microbiological GMP’s, SOP’s, HACCP’s, and sanitary design standards.
• Oversee the company’s environmental program and micro pre-op & operational activities.
• Participate in all micro related audits—USDA, BRC, 3rd Party Customer, Vendor, etc.
• Actively participate in evaluating equipment teardown activities.
• Lead documentation of investigative testing and corrective actions.
• Maintain all laboratory equipment and procure necessary supplies.
• Develop a close working relationship with the 3rd Shift Sanitation Department.
• Submit timely summary reports to plant management.
• Maintain appropriate laboratory programs, certifications, and Proficiency Testings.
• Keep lab costs within budget.
• Act as the key contact with outside labs and lab service providers.
• Proactively participate in appropriate Internal Audit Teams.
• Cooperate with Corporate QA in identifying best lab practices, programs and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.


• B.S. in Microbiology or related field.
• 3-5 years Food Micro & Chemical Lab experience.
• Direct experience with GFSI certification programs such as BRC, SQF, etc.
• Knowledge of USDA regulations, HAACP’s, GMP’s, SOP’s, and SSOP’s
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
