Overview:

Responsible for review and analysis of safety and quality assurance inspection data in accordance with department standards, to include developing and maintaining reporting on safety key performance indicators.  Provides support to stores and other locations as assigned on safety and quality assurance issues, and assists Director of Safety and Quality Assurance with administration of safety and quality assurance programs.

Responsibilities:

Creates and maintains reporting on safety key performance indicators, analyzes data, prepares, and publishes accurate, helpful summary reporting to designated areas as directed.

 

Assists with safety and quality assurance audits; provide summary reporting on safety hazards and risks identified, and works with management team to implement effective solutions in all assigned locations.

 

May work onsite with assigned facilities on safety and food safety initiatives

 

Coordinates activities of third party quality assurance and cleaning chemical provider programs to include analysis of inspection data and billing, training schedules, store inspections, auditor calibration, and new store and remodel equipment installations.

 

Monitors and assists field with follow up on regulatory safety and quality assurance inspections to ensure compliance.

 

Support Director of Safety and Quality Assurance with safety and quality assurance training including certification training, CB training, and other training functions as assigned. Conducts training of assigned programs as assigned.

 

Supports Director of Safety and Quality Assurance with analysis, research and documentation of department policies and procedures, and updates as needed.

 

Supports product recall process including analysis of current recall procedures, research and data compilation (as necessary) and identification and implementation of improvement opportunities, corporate training.

 

Provide support to Director of Safety and Quality Assurance, and assists specialists as assigned.

 

Performs other related duties as assigned by management and adheres to all company policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Satisfactory performance reviews.

Bachelor degree with studies in biology, safety, or health sciences preferred.

Accredited food safety designation within specified timeframe required.

Experience in safety/quality assurance, with at least 3 years experience in retail supermarket industry.

Must possess excellent analytical skills.

Excellent customer service skills and helpful behavior required

Excellent working knowledge of PC applications and Windows required

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook)

Self motivated and able to work both independently, and as part of a team

Excellent written and verbal communication skills required with proficiency in report writing.

Excellent organizational skills, ability to maintain high degree of accuracy, and proven ability to meet deadlines required.

Must be at least 18 years old and hold/maintain a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Successful completion of the most recent AED certification and emergency responder program is strongly preferred and required within a specified timeframe if selected for the position.

 

Strongly prefer a working knowledge of all relevant safety/food safety regulations applicable to retail grocery industry including but not limited to FDA, USDA, OSHA, National Fire Protection (NFP), EPA, DOT, and state/local requirements. Knowledge of regulations listed required within a specified timeframe if selected for the position.

Physical Requirements:

Flexible work hours with evening and weekend work required

Up to 90% travel

Store, warehouse, cooler, and freezer environments.

Hard hats and safety-toed footwear are required to be worn in construction sites and when operating equipment.

Occasional physical effort (up to 50 lbs.)

Significant amount of driving, sitting, standing, walking, bending and reaching.

Extensive travel required
