Assists in Ankeny Product Development group, primarily assisting Food
Scientists and Technical Data Analyst.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares sales samples and other large batches of
experimental formulas. This can be dry seasonings or liquid products.
Performs shelf life testing and cooks up product in
application as needed to evaluate seasonings, sauces and other products in
Assists with bench work as well as pilot plant work as
needed as directed by Food Scientists.
Assists with Ankeny SKU Rationalization project and private
Assists with Sensory taste panels as needed.
Documents experimental formula changes in SAP.
Performs general cleaning & upkeep of laboratory.
Shops for grocery supplies as needed.
Other duties as directed.
Education / Experience / Skill / Competence Requirements:
Associate’s degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, Food and Nutrition or
other general science such as biology.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
0 - 1 experience required, ideally in a laboratory or food service setting.
Attention to Detail – Achieves thoroughness and accuracy by
being attentive to detail in the planning and the execution of tasks
including the ability to measure accurately.
Mathematical Skills – Ability to use mathematical techniques
to calculate data or solve practical problems.
Reasoning – Ability to examine data to grasp issues, draw conclusions, and solve problems.
Interpersonal Skills – Focuses on solving conflict, not
blaming; maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting.
Oral Communication – Speaks clearly and persuasively in
positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; participates
Microsoft Office. SAP knowledge desired but not required.
