Innovation Scientist - Alsip, IL
GFUS Innovation Team projects to develop new breakthrough Innovation
technologies for application by PD Team and key clients, which support the
overall Griffith Foods business strategy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Functions as a scientist to
support the development of new and optimized Innovation technologies
(raw materials, formulas, processes) in execution of technical
activities, which support PD, key clients and the overall Griffith
Foods business strategy.
- Applies food science,
chemistry, microbiology, biology, and physics principles in research
- Provides support to the
design, planning, execution and reporting of experiments and projects
at the direction of a Manager, Director, Principal or Senior Principal
- Works within assigned
priorities, projects, and timelines.
- Uses DOE (Design of
Experiments) where possible to design statistically robust
- Uses technical and problem
solving skills to approach projects.
- Communicates project progress
- Completes raw material
development and product formulation activities to drive efficient
production of safe and regulatory compliant food products and
- Follows Innovation processes
and protocols to ensure efficiencies and effectiveness of function.
- Maintains GLP’s, GMP’s and
all required laboratory records, using electronic systems and written
- Represents Innovation in
professional business relationships with GFUS client and supplier
- Responsible for maintaining
the security of all information regarding raw material composition,
product formulas, processes and related confidential information.
- BS in Science or related
- 6 months food industry
experience working within a technical R&D or Quality environment;
either as an intern or full-time employee.
- Position requires up to 15%
- Must have high attention to
- A passion for the food
- Technically creative and able
to problem solve.
- Proficient in Microsoft
Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
