Development Scientist I – Bakery – Downers Grove, IL
This position is a key development
leadership position that identifies, develops and commercializes new and
improved products and platforms of products. This person will have a very
strong working knowledge of the commercialization process and is expected to
leverage and expand their knowledge related to ingredients, product
formulation and food processing. The position will be responsible for
assessing emerging ingredient and process technologies and leverage within
the organization. The position requires strong project management skills with
the ability to manage multiple projects at one time. This person will be
technical expert to their cross functional partners and a technical mentor to
the R&D organization.
Essential Duties and
Lead multiple innovation
and renovation projects from concept through commercialization.
Independently plan and execute
tests, analyze results and develop new products for the Retail and/or
Assess the applicability of new
ingredient and process technologies to drive new product innovations or
existing product changes such as quality improvements, nutritional
enhancement or cost reduction.
Provide technical leadership
related for the cross functional project teams including support of
Marketing, Sales, Operations and Supply Chain.
Document work utilizing company
tools including Specs, Stagegate and PLM
Support new product innovation
efforts by leveraging external resources while staying abreast of
current trends and technologies
BS, or MS preferred with Bakery
M.S with no experience, B.S
with minimum of 3 years of Bakery experience; or 6+ years of Bakery
experience required with no degree.
Demonstrated knowledge and
expertise in the product development process from concept through
Demonstrated project management
skills on complex projects working with cross functional teams
competency through strong written and communication skills
Computer literacy essential.
Spec development and project management experience helpful
