Growth-oriented manufacturing company in Harrisburg, PA has an immediate opening for a hands-on, skilled SHEQ Manager (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality Manager) to provide leadership and direction to the team in a 24/7 operation. Ideal candidate will be a key contributor on the management team and will be a positive, self-motivated professional with a passion for success.

Job Summary
SHEQ Manager will be accountable for management and compliance of established procedures and continuous improvement of food safety, quality, customer specifications, and OSHA standards during the manufacturing process of our products.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise SHEQ Supervisor and Sanitation Team Leader.
  • Hire, train and coach employee performance and conduct evaluations.
  • Coordinate and oversee all quality and sanitation programs such as recall, non-conforming product, inspection and testing methods.
  • Lead the GFSI audit as well as preparation activities.
  • Manage all aspects of the companyís micro lab
  • Support department managers with investigations and corrective actions for customer complaints
  • Support and guide Technicians in the performance of complex physical, chemical, microbiological and sensory analyses on food products (i.e. in-process raw materials and finished goods)
  • Manage and maintain the positive release programs for incoming and outgoing materials
  • Support the safety program at PMC Harrisburg
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and customer standards including GFSI, FDA (FSMA), ISO17025 & OSHA
  • Conduct quarterly Food Safety reviews with Management team to identify trends and determine corrective and preventive actions.
  • Create a Food Safety culture through developing & upholding Good Manufacturing Practices and other prerequisite programs
  • Lead the review, update and creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPís) with various departments
  • Lead product process capability studies, product trials, etc.; Track and communicate results to Management
  • Direct and develop improvement opportunities with outside services for pest control, chemical usage, and lab materials
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility in the management of the department.

Essential Job Requirements

  • Bachelorís degree in Food Safety or related discipline required and a minimum of 4 yearsí experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food manufacturing
  • Previous experience with GFSI audits, preferably BRC
  • HACCP Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of management or supervisory experience. Effective leadership skills required
  • Experienced and highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Thorough understanding of GMP, SOP, SSOP, FDA, traceability, and OSHA standards
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to perform critical analysis and problem solving
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills, interpersonal skills, and time management skills
  • Ability to demonstrate lean manufacturing, root cause analysis and process improvement skills
  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment and conduct test operations
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Must be able to work in an environment with high heat and humidity
