DEPARTMENT: Research and Development
of Research and Product Development
DURATION: 3 to 6 months
Research & Development (R&D) Intern will work in a newly
established and state-of-the-art Research and Development department. He/She will work on new process and product
developments, continuous improvements, and process optimizations related to
milk protein concentrates, milk permeate and fat rich dairy product processing.This role will interact with Idaho Milk
Products Quality, Production, and Marketing & Sales staff to ensure and
develop safe, high quality products.
FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists R&D team by
planning, managing and executing research projects targeted for
developing new process and product lines.
- Develops special methods that
will facilitate in process analysis of our products and also help
predict potential problems for our customers in finished product
- Works with Marketing and
Sales and Quality Assurance to provide special analysis and technical
assistance that is requested by customers.
- Keeps meticulous records to
document all aspects of data and studies.
- Prepares presentations and
reports to communicate results.
- Understands regulatory
requirements and work to ensure compliance.
- Performs routine bench
procedures as assigned.
- Performs other duties and
projects as assigned.
SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required: Minimum of 2 years of
work towards BS degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, or other
closely related field
- Preferred: Senior standing towards BS
degree or just graduated with BS degree with specialization in Food
Science, Dairy Science, or other closely related field.
Skills and Abilities:
- Food or dairy pilot plant
- Bench top laboratory
research experience is preferred
- Knowledge of food or dairy
processing unit operations is preferred
- Prior internship experience
in a commercial dairy is preferred
- Experience solving problems,
analyzing information, highlighting relevant information and
suggesting appropriate actions
- Confirmed ability to work independently
and meet defined deadlines.
- Excellent MS Office skills including
Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to demonstrate these skills
- Capable writer and oral communicator.
Able to write reports and prepare/deliver presentations.
- Well-built skills in
organization, prioritization and time management
- Creative self-starter that enjoys
building systems from the ground up
- Highly self-motivated
individual comfortable working individually and able to manage
multiple tasks and projects efficiently within the context of a
fast-paced, busy environment
- Ability to establish
good relations with all levels of employees
