Description:

Job Summary:

Promotes and performs continuous quality improvement by compiling data for trend analysis and reporting, developing action plans and executing to achieve measurable improvement. Ensures that Dave’s Killer Bread (DKB) product at self-manufacturing (SelfMan) and Contract Manufacturing (CoMan) are in compliance to DKB standards and in compliance to regulatory guidelines.



Duties:

Essential Functions:

• Apply logical thinking to the gathering and analyzing of information, developing improvement plans and executing to achieve desired results.
• Responsible for working with Production to develop and implement real-time and actionable quality control measures necessary to assure product quality.
• Assist in the development and maintain quality continuous improvement metrics for key process steps
• Actively pursues the identification and reduction of process variation while focusing on attributes affecting product quality.
• Responsible for coordinating the evaluation and resolution of all internal and external product quality issues.
• Responsible for working with cross functional teams such as Production, Research and Development (R&D), CoMan, Regulatory Compliance, and Maintenance to establish and achieve business objectives.
• Ability to determine and provide clear, objective and accurate summary report of Selfman & CoMan product quality by taking into account information from in-house and the various consumer intake processes.
• Responsible for establishing, monitoring and maintaining all appropriate quality programs and procedures, and test equipment to assure compliance to requirements.
• Evaluate various product tests and tests related to ingredients and packaging to help identify appropriate response.
• Examine raw materials and/or product for impurities and make recommendations for issue resolution based on established specifications.
• Responsible for providing technical support in product recalls and withdrawals.
• Performs Dave’s Quality Rating score cards for all DKB products as needed for both Selfman and CoMan facilities.
• Works with the CoMan team as needed to improve quality performance.
• Perform all procedures accurately and according to written Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as indicated in the Quality Assurance SOP manuals.
• Perform visual finished product inspections and provide disposition based on DKB quality standards and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations.
• Document all paperwork according to procedures and protocols.
• Completes appropriate computer entries accurately.
• Maintains neat and legible manual forms.
• Performs documentation of trending data with the goal of identifying quality improvement opportunities.
• Actively participates in performing validation protocols.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1.    Minimum 2 years of demonstrated quality improvement, preferably in food manufacturing.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science/Technology or related fields preferred.
3. Strong analytical skills.
4. Ability to collaborate with others to achieve defined objectives.
5. Must demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, and strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to approach partners about quality issues with tact and diplomacy.
6. Must be self-directed with strong planning skills.
7. Effective and accurate written and verbal skills.
8. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
9. Experience writing procedures.
10. Ability to keep accurate records.
11. Ability to follow documented procedures and standards.
12. Efficient time management skills.
13. Knowledgeable in Food and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and GMP guidelines for food manufacturing facilities and plant start-ups.
14. Strong understanding of food safety, Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP), GMP, sanitary design/controls, pest control, food regulations/specifications, and basic food technology.
15. Working knowledge of the scientific method.
16. Strong math skills.
17. Ability to understand production schedules.
