Job Description

This position is responsible for site compliance with all federal, state and local regulations concerning standards related to food safety regulations. Maintain and enforce all site food safety regulations assuring they are current and verifying they are in use. Implement, maintain and enforce third party and customer food safety standards. Implement, maintain and enforce corporate and local procedures. This position requires successful interaction with manufacturing and quality groups in order to execute, manage and improve food safety programs for the facility.

1. Effectiveness and suitability of the food safety management system, update the management at the weekly staff meetingManage the food safety team and organize its work

     Ensure the food safety management system is established, implemented, maintained and updated

     Lead the internal audit team

     Ensure relevant training and education for the food safety team members and deliver all site-wide food safety training

     Manage communication with the contracted sanitation team, provide annual cleaning validation

     Follow up on all food safety related QNís (Quality Notifications)

     Perform Root Cause analysis and document Corrective Actions for food safety issues

     Maintain and update the HACCP/Food Safety Plan

     Liaise externally to ensure most relevant information and emerging issues are identified and incorporated into the food safety programs.

2. Coordinate all site activities regarding USDA and FDA

     Primary contact with USDA, FDA and the Department of Health

     Lead weekly meetings with the USDA inspector

     Maintain all paperwork related to USDA products

3. Coordinate all site activities regarding third party audits, customer audits and certification audits

     Maintain all documentation for third party and customer audits

     Prepare the facility for audits

     Support specific customer and supplier initiatives as needed

4. Maintain Organic Program

     Liaise with Organic Certification Body to maintain our organic program

     Work with R&D and Regulatory to onboard new organic materials

5. Perform other duties as requested

Required Skills

     Knowledge of government regulatory requirements FSMA and USDA Regulations

     Knowledge of GFSI Standards (FSSC22000, BRC, SQF)

     HACCP Certified

     Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, Environmental Monitoring

     Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to include communication with customers or outside governmental agencies

     Strong organizational skills with the capability of managing multiple projects

     Minimum of 3 years experience in computer systems to include word processing, spreadsheet, internet and e-mail systems

Required Experience

     Bachelorís Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology or other related field and minimum of 3 years experience in food manufacturing

     Or a minimum of 5 years experience in food manufacturing in a position related to Food Safety/Quality
