PNC is the maker of Premier Protein shakes and bars, PowerBar bars, shakes, gels and gel blasts, Supreme bars and Joint Juice Glucosamine supplement drinks and concentrate.

Post Holdings is comprised of the Active Nutrition (PNC, Dymatize¬¬¬ & Active Nutrition International), Post Consumer Brands (Cereal), Michael’s Foods Group (eggs) and Private Label business groups and is rapidly expanding via acquisition.
 

KEY RESULT AREAS:
 
This is a technical expert R&D position; this position will coordinate all aspects of test kitchen operation to support product development and assigned product development managers.
 
Prototype and bench samples production/storage/shipping, raw ingredients/ bench samples inventory management and documentation management will be in scope for this position.
 
This position will demonstrate joint accountability (with R&D product development managers) for project success by assembling prototypes and test kitchen samples and capturing relevant formulation, processing and ingredients insights.
 
This position works with limited supervision.
 

Test Kitchen Management: 70 % of TIME
Job Duties:
• Execution of Bench top activities under the direction of other R&D team members (product development managers): retrieving ingredients, mixing/blending/cooking/baking/forming/cutting per recipe/instructions, packaging and labeling prototypes samples.
 
• Establish and maintain inventory management system for all test kitchen supplies: raw and trial ingredients, packaging supplies and finished products (bench top and relevant commercial samples) by maintaining of agreed upon stock levels through re-ordering samples and adherence to shelf life.
 
• Establish, validate and execute master sanitation schedule for test kitchen.
• Establish, validate and execute food safety plan for test kitchen operation.
• Ship and receive samples to/from various sites and personnel via appropriate carriers.
• Set up, operate, clean/sanitize and coordinate maintenance of test kitchen equipment such as enrobers, Aw, viscosity meters, O2 meter, Multivac …).

R&D Documentation: 25 % of TIME
Job Duties:
• Maintain ingredient specs and other relevant information in Genesis and other formats as assigned.
 
• Test Kitchen documentation: ingredient/sample records, inventory records, formulation and processing notes, cleaning records, shipping records.
 

R&D department support: 5 % of TIME
Job Duties:
• Provide insight into formulation and alternate ingredients
• Provide insight into trends and new technology for future development projects.


REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• Education Level:
 
Required: BS Food Science, Food Engineering, Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering or similar disciplines.
 
Preferred: Advanced degree in a related field.

• Experience:
Required: 2 years’ experience in Food industry, with significant hands-on experience in bench top/test kitchen/pilot line sample production. Experience working collaborative in team environment is required.

• Skills:
Required:
o Demonstrated bench top/product development skills with successful record keeping and adhering to deadlines.
 
o Ability to excel in dynamic fast paced business environment, demonstrated ability to self-motivate and manage multiple priorities/requests.
o Demonstrated ability to work effective in team environment through excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills (both written and verbal)
 
o Ability to travel to various sites as assigned.
 
Preferred:
o Demonstrated ability in bench top/test kitchen/ pilot line sample production for nutritional bars, RTD and/or powders.
