Natural Food Works provides outsourced, contract food manufacturing for natural and organic food businesses. Founded in 2013, we have exceeded first year growth plans and will soon be adding a third facility in the Denver area. What You Will Do:

The Quality Coordinator provides leadership and guidance to the plant team in the areas of Food Safety, Product Quality, Sanitation Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices. The Quality Coordinator is responsible for all activities involving quality assurance and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements; conducts audits, reviews/analyzes data and documentation, completes product testing and provides feedback to the plant team about quality issues. This role will report to the Quality Director and will work closely with the Plant Manager and plant team members.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform daily product checks following product guidelines and specifications
  • Pull samples daily for analysis and maintain retain samples
  • Run daily sample analysis and record results clearly
  • Place finished goods, work-in-progress, and raw materials on hold and maintain a Hold log, as needed
  • Coordinate sample shipments to third party laboratories for testing per product testing frequencies
  • Maintain quality related paperwork and log to meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
  • Maintain Master Sanitation Schedule and review work procedures
  • Perform daily pre-op/post-op procedures in all product manufacturing areas
  • Maintain Sanitation chemical inventory
  • Conduct internal audits, lead facility inspections and lead corrective action processes
  • Assist in maintaining facility certifications for Organic, Kosher and Gluten Free certifications
  • Review and approve COAs for receiving on a weekly basis
  • Continually monitor, coach and train team members on food safety and quality practices
  • Monitor and verify all quality control points/critical control points on hourly and daily basis
  • Attend daily shift meetings
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Who You Are:

You have 2+ years of experience in the food manufacturing industry. It is required that you have a background in Quality/Food Safety, with some knowledge about HACCP, FDA, USDA, SQF, Gluten Free/Organic/Kosher certifications preferred. You have basic math skills as well as basic computer skills and are familiar with Microsoft Office software applications. You have strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions, processes and procedures. You work well both independently and as part of team. You have strong written and verbal communication skills, can interface professionally with internal staff and customers in person and in email and you have a strong ability to address and resolve conflict.
You know how to establish priorities, meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks, and make decisions under pressure. You have strong organizational and planning skills and can execute on company priorities.

You are focused on safety and have a sense of urgency when issues arise and will be responsible for shutting down production when needed to facilitate resolution of extreme issues. You can physically walk stand on production floor for entire shift and be able to pick up, lift, stack and/or move various objects and containers of up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work any assigned shift. The plant operates in accordance with customer demand so weekend and late hours may be required. A high school diploma/GED equivalent is required. College degree in related field preferred. Bilingual in Spanish would be a plus.
