Description and Responsibilities:

The Senior Scientist role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities related to the development of food and beverage products, from initial concept development to full-scale commercialization. Primary focus will be on beverage related product development. Utilising and further expanding key Kerry technology capabilities (such as flavours, syrups, sauces, sweet inclusions, dairy based systems) to innovate and commercialise market leading products with superior taste and performance will be a key objective of the role.


This candidate is expected to demonstrate excellent networking and project management skills, both externally with customers and suppliers, and also internally with several functions (including Sales, R&D – Sensory; Flavorists, Marketing, Commercial, Operations, Engineering, Quality). Supporting customer activities as required will be critical (presentation, concept development, information support, visits, etc.).


The candidate is also expected to demonstrate creativity by staying abreast of marketplace trends and leading edge technology developments to help develop a library of gold standard application concepts that highlight the wide spectrum of Kerry’s capabilities. To achieve this, formulation expertise and thorough understanding of the sensory, chemical, physical and food safety characteristics of ingredients and flavours will be required. The candidate will also be well versed with liquid and dry processing technologies like HTST, UHT, retort, blending, spray drying, agglomeration and encapsulation to successfully manufacture and package such products. The role requires a thorough understanding of Kerry ingredients, flavor, processing technologies that are of commercial interest, and their subsequent manufacture and performance in customer application over the course of product shelf-life.  


The candidate will support the activities of the other parts of the team as required and will support the R&D Manager in the preparation of meetings, strategy, customer visits, factory support, external representation of Kerry, supplier relationships, technical activities, amongst others as needed.




Qualifications / Experience:

  • BS, MS,PhD in Food Technology / Science / Engineering / Culinary or other related fields
  • Minimum of 5 years related industry experience
