We are a food manufacturer since 1924, now seeking a R&D Food Technologist. This is a permanent position with first three months probation period.

This position responsibilities include: creating new fried products noodles and fortune cookie, working alongside procurement to reduce material costs, revising existing products when applicable to make them more cost effective, maintain a library of all product recipes, creating product related documentation, assisting production with technical issues.

You should be proficient in computer skills using Microsoft Office. Have a minimum of 2 years in Food Technology experience in the food industry. Preferably with culinary experience. Have excellent verbal and written communications. You should be flexible in your working schedules to include both weekdays, nights, and weekends.

Job title R&D Food Technologist Reports to General Manager

Job purpose This position assists the General Manager in developing, revising and maintaining a fried noodle and fortune cookie product line, reduces costs of materials and assists in improving the process flow of production to maximize efficiency and productivity

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop fried snacks, fortune cookies and dried/fresh noodles from concept to commercialization that meets customer specifications and needs
  • Develop products within cost parameters as required
  • Establish product specifications, develop nutrition facts and product labeling information
  • Oversee plant trial runs and product start-ups, adapting formulas and processes as required
  • Work closely with procurement to source new and cost effective ingredients
  • Provide product information and technical support to customers
  • Provide technical support and training Production and Sales Department
  • Conduct shelf life studies, evaluate product stability and process flow and recommend product shelf life
  • Work closely with production and Quality Assurance on development and process flow on new products and improvements to existing products
  • Ensure new products adhere to federal and food industry standards
  • Effectively communicate with General Manager and Sales Manager on project updates
  • Perform special projects and duties as assigned Knowledge/Skills Required
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to operate effectively in a fast paced working environment
  • Knowledge of food and safety regulations
  • Highly motivated and creative
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and able to work cross-functionally with different departments
  • Familiarity with good manufacturing process
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Genesis Nutritional Program


  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field; Culinary experience a plus
  • Minimum 2 year experience in the field of food science

Working conditions

This position requires the R&D Food Technologist to work according to specific needs, including working on mornings or evenings including some weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Work is conducted in shared office space or on open production areas. Production areas may be very hot depending on the season and time. They can also be very loud depending on the production area and the product or process being employed at the time. The environment may be very dusty from either dust or flour, PPE will be provided.

Physical requirements

The R&D Food Technologist will be required to stand for prolonged periods of time during process observations. Lifting, bending, reaching, crawling and stretching are required during observations and these may be prolonged for more than one hour depending on the specific need at the time.
