POSITION PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The primary focus is to help our clients create a great product that are unique and cutting edge while maintaining a specific price point, and their respective supplement facts.will be responsible for developing and validating methods to support manufacturing and new products; instrumentation or equipment set up, troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration and validation and writing and updating SOPís .

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Creates and develops formulas such as meal replacements, protein shakes, nutritional supplement stick packs, capsules, beverage applications and personal care products.
  • Consults with internal and/or external customers regarding parameters and goals of a project. Adjusts ingredients, taste, and nutrition based on customer feedback
  • Troubleshoots manufacturing problems and issues as needed; assists in QA evaluation of finished products
  • Conducts plant trials/process validation testing.
  • Creates supplement and nutrition facts panels and other nutritional breakdowns on new and current formulas.
  • Ensure new products adhere to federal and food industry standards
  • Works with vendors to acquire proper and thorough documentation for current and new ingredients
  • Conducts research on ingredients and products as requested and continues to research the food and supplement industry for new trends, ingredients, and processes for working with challenging ingredients
  • Develop products within cost parameters as required
  • Work closely with procurement to source new and cost effective ingredients
  • Work closely with production and Quality Assurance on development and process flow on new products and improvements to existing products
  • Effectively communicate with General Manager and Sales Manager on project updates
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to operate effectively in a fast paced working environment
  • Highly motivated and creative
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and able to work cross-functionally with different departments
  • Coordinate organization, storage of equipment/materials and cleanup of R&D facilities
  • Manage R&D sample documents and inventory
  • Assist in facilitation of in-house and contracted sensory testing, including management of sensory panel samples and standards; and set up, clean up, and support sensory evaluation meetings
  • Accurately records, analyzes and reports data to meet project objectives

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred but not required - Undergraduate degree in Food Science with 3-5 years experience in related field.
  • Related manufacturing experience (5 years) Ė requires previous experience industry formulation development, preferably in both or either dry/liquid nutritional blends or nutritional supplements.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Highly motivated, creative and independent performer with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
  • Firm understanding of ingredient functionality and nutrition.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • High ethical standards with the ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and communications skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Laboratory environment which may include long hours standing, sitting, bending, twisting, walking, climbing stairs, strong and/or unusual odors.
