R&D Food Lab Technician - Boulder, CO

One of our clients in Boulder is currently looking for an R&D Technician to join their team. They're at the top of their industry and have a wonderful work environment. This position is a 3-4 month contract with the possibility of extension or direct hire opportunity. If you are looking to get started in the food industry this is a great position for you!

Education

  • AS or BS in Culinary Arts and/or Food Science or a related field from accredited institution.

Or

  • Equivalent background and experience in food manufacturing/ or culinary work.

Qualifications

  • Ability to multitask in a high performance, cross functional, and team based company culture.
  • Ability to assist in development of culinary protocept and commercial prototype recipes with an understanding of food production process.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to pick up new techniques and software quickly.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and able to record and maintain details.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety & kitchen safety principles.

Skills & Responsibilities

  • Assist Research and Development team in product development work including:
  • procuring & maintaining ingredients
  • maintaining organization of kitchen/lab work areas
  • planning for new recipe development sessions and creating samples.
  • Support internal culinary and R&D activities including:
  • recipe development and optimization
  • planning and presentation of new product prototypes to multidisciplinary team.
  • Support external R&D activities including:
  • preparation and planning for product implementation
  • scale up at manufacturing plants and co-packers.
  • Conduct shelf life studies and heating validation studies/develop product cooking instructions.
  • Assist team with sample procurement and shipment.
  • Demonstrate precise, expedient, organized, and efficient work.
  • Coordinate and communicate technical product information to other departments.

Summary

  • Entry level position, little to no experience. Food manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Primary function is assisting R&D, learning company R&D standards and process.
