Talking Rain Beverage Company, the makers of Sparkling Ice, is looking for a Food Technologist
to join our Innovation team. We are looking for people that can bring fresh
ideas and new perspectives to our company. This position is responsible for
leading product development from ideation through commercialization.
Leads Beverage formulation projects
from benchtop to commercialization. Uses knowledge of flavors and flavor
chemistry to develop formulas and provide direction in product
Researches into ingredients,
beverage and flavor technology to support the RD team and rest of the department
through a network of vendors and suppliers.
Contribute effectively to New
Product Development process from ideation to commercialization (e.g.
actively provide technical perspective for new and renovated products
including labeling, claims and ingredients.)
Keep lab ingredient and material
inventory updated by meticulous planning and management.
Work on formula costing sheets
during the product development cycle.
Provides technical expertise and
support for formulation and technical issues of all projects.
Interacts and communicates with
cross departmental teams to ensure project success
Key technical leader in research
and development of new products and continuing support of existing
products through commercialization and start up.
Actively identifies opportunities
to solve product quality problems, to improve efficiency and reduce
Utilizes excellent written and
verbal communication and can provide decisive decision making during the
life course of a project.
Support technicians during product
development including but not limited to new idea generation, prototype
development, product optimization, production start-up for test market
and national launching of new products.
Plans and tracks project budgets
including capital and expense requirements.
Contact vendors for related
information, as and when necessary. Work with supplier network to
deliver meaningful impact to the company (cost reduction, innovations,
Utilize the ESHA Genesis R&D
Software program to determine nutritional and calorie information.
Supports Talking Rain's
Technology strategies by documenting data and independent, unique and
patentable ideas that results from experimentations and concept
Stay abreast of latest
developments in the field of food technology.

Bachelor’s degree in food science
or related BS degree from an accredited college or university required
At least 4 years of experience in
food and beverage development
Strong working knowledge of food
science principles, food manufacturing processes and ingredient
Working knowledge of FDA
regulations as it applies to CPG industry is desirable but not required
Ability to employ advanced
interpretation of data and make recommendations
Excellent analytical, teamwork,
verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated proficiency in
Microsoft Office products
ESHA/Genesis nutritional software
system knowledge desired but not required.
Certified Food Scientist
credentials preferred but not require
