Summary:
The Food Safety Manager will develop and oversee all of the food safety regulations, policies, and procedures for Maverik’s Food Service program. Responsibilities include supporting development, implementation and enforcement of security and food safety standards, policies, and programs including but not limited to, HACCP, SQF and GFSI, regulatory audits, food safety training programs, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), product inspections, and standardized work instructions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Establish Maverik’s Food Safety Culture
• Serve as the subject matter expert for food safety requirements
• Develop and maintain SOP’s, including policies and procedures as related to any food safety concerns
• Support development of training content, facilitating training as needed
• Update existing food safety procedures and documentation to keep up with changing requirements and certifications
• Manage third party audits food safety audits
• Work closely with District Managers, Store Directors and/or FRESCH Managers to ensure food safety
• Follow up on Health Department violations with appropriate people and departments
• Support the product recall process by substantiating decision to execute a recall
• Ensure that all company food safety procedures are followed and documented correctly at all times
• Additional responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications: Experience, Competencies and Education
• 3+ years of food safety experience, with management level experience in creating and administrating HACCP plans, meeting all legal requirements as set for by the USDA, FDA, local municipalities and associated food codes required
• Comprehensive knowledge of HACCP, GMP’s, and GAP’s required
• Previous experience with SQF, GFSI, Primus, BRC and/or USDA audits preferred
• Ability to travel as required to Maverik stores and various suppliers within the United States
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Able to work and manage independently
• Ability to work a flexible schedule (work hours and work days)
• Detail oriented
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office
