Quality Control Technicians are hired as members of a manufacturing team.  They are responsible for ensuring product quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements for all products manufactured at the facility.


The General Mills-Albuquerque plant operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. This position is a permanent night shift position with a 12 hour shift. Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime.  Quality Control Technicians must be willing to work any shift including nights and weekends.


FSQ lab accountabilities:

·        Comply with all safety requirements, chemical hygiene program and proper use of PPE

·        Daily analytical (chemical and physical) testing of ingredients, packaging, and finished products

·        Data entry into MQIS (statistical analysis database)

·        Approval of product against specifications

·        Partnering with team leaders and technicians to influence quality decisions and support production

·        Conduct lab Internal Reference Material (IRM) program laboratory activities

·        Intermediate knowledge of instrumentation and troubleshooting

·        Sanitation responsibilities across the facility

·        Lab cleaning and maintenance as needed

·        Control of documentation and document review to support Preventive Control requirements

·        Ownership and responsibility for tasks, programs and high-quality work output

·        Strong organizational skills with an ability to handle multiple priorities

·        Willingness and ability to be flexible and adapt to changing job requirements

·        Serve as focal point to assure accurate and efficient laboratory operations on a daily basis

·        Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of all analytical equipment and test methods

·        Lead trouble-shooting efforts to assure accuracy & functionality of analytical equipment. Lead efforts to update equipment and methods when appropriate

·        Provide leadership and support to the manufacturing teams to effectively resolve product quality and food safety issues. Provide technical and system analysis support for root-cause investigations and foreign material contamination incidents

·        Sensory panel participation and program support

·        Conduct monthly sanitation & product safety audits

·        Assist in development and maintenance of plant audit programs to assure effective execution of quality and food safety programs, such as Quality Index, FSRA (Food Safety and Regulatory Assessment), HACCP, Integrated Pest Management, GMP’s

·        Attend daily production meetings and provide communications as to quality and product safety issues and priorities

·        Support plant tests, capability studies and start-ups, as needed including additional analytical test requests

·        Lead and execute assigned programs to support the Food Safety Management System

·        Additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
  • Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends
  • Willing and able to adhere to all safety standards and wear all necessary personal protective equipment
  • Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
  • Strong problem solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems
