Job Title: Food Safety Director for USDA and FDA facility

Job Description:

Great Lakes HPP, located in Taylor Michigan is a new food manufacturing facility that opened in March of 2018. We are a High Pressure Processing tolling facility that also has itís own line of chef inspired and created products that we manufacture ourselves. High Pressure processing is a new form of technology that utilizes pressure to sterilize foods and extend shelf life. As a tolling facility, we receive customerís products, HP process them, and send them for further distribution all over the country!

This position requires upbeat and positive attitudes, quick problem-solving skills, the ability to write HACCP programs, SOPís, SSOPís and other documents to follow USDA, FDA, and MDARD compliance requirements.

-Updating programs and protocols typically requires 60% of the time

-Observing operations on the floor, overseeing quality checks, ensuring quality of production and ensuring GMPs are being followed will be required 40% of the time.

Great Lakes HPP is launching 3 new product lines. Being able to switch things in the middle of the day to maximize efficiency requires extreme organizational and time management skills. The person in this position will conduct employee training of new procedural changes, and GMPs

Duties:

  • Writing and updating HACCP Plans
  • Writing and updating SOPs, SSOPs, GMPs, Protocols
  • Maintaining document records
  • Overseeing Quality checks and ensure highest quality of standards for all products
  • Leading audits (SQF, USDA, 3rd Party, etc.)
  • Meeting with new clients
  • Some travel to sister facility in Clinton Township
  • Managing quality and sanitation teams at Great Lakes HPP and sometimes Clinton Township
  • Training employees

Requirements:

  • HACCP certified
  • SQF Practitioner Preffered
  • Knowledge of USDA compliance
  • Knowledge of FDA compliance preferred
  • Flexible work Schedule
  • Ability to think quickly and problem solve
  • Some Travel
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Food Science, Industry Management, or 2-4+ years in the industry
  • Microbiology Experience

Salary is negotiable based on experience.

Willing to assist with relocation.
