The Product Development and Quality Manager applies his/her culinary knowledge to the completion of new and current product development while aiding in ensuring food quality. The Product Development and Quality Manager leads Research & Development and develops innovative recipes and concepts to supports Just Dessertsí branded and custom businesses.

Description Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee all R&D and new product development
  • Maintain and improve product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
  • Work with QA Director and Production Managers on commercialization of new products
  • Perform nutritional analysis of all new products
  • Provide concepts and prototypes for product development
  • Coordinate with production management on issues of product quality and sanitation/GMP practices in the facility.
  • Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures
  • Perform and document sensory evaluation
  • Recipe costing, change management, trouble shooting recipes and processes
  • Enter all new recipes and product revisions into GlobalBake, nutritional database, and recipe traceability sheets
  • Assist the Sales team in technical aspects and product knowledge
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements/Other Skills/Abilities:

  • Preferred Degree in Culinary Arts and/or Food Science
  • Minimum 5 years of culinary product development experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supervising a culinary team and/or department
  • Minimum of basic Food Science knowledge
  • Manufacturing industry experience
  • High degree of professional maturity
