Job Description

SUMMARY

Is responsible for the day-to-day quality review and audit of quality control records, and compliance documentation to ensure the facility is operating within quality-regulatory limits and guidelines.  This position provides specific support to ensure facility compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Record review, maintain & update all quality system records to ensure regulatory compliance:

  • Maintain and update Forms, SOPs, and Policies relative to Food Safety
  • Perform a comprehensive audit preparation in support of internal and external audits
  • Monitor FSMA pre-requisite programs and preventive plans.
  • Input/update FSMA/HARPC/Food Safety, Quality and Defense Records and provide corrective actions in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Monitor and Update all Quality System Records.
  • Conduct employee training to include SOPís, QA, Food Safety Training for newly hired employees, refresher and support annual employee training.
  • Food Safety/HARPC, Food Quality, Sanitation, Food Defense, Food Micro, HALAL/Kosher, Organic, CCP, PP, GMP, Allergen Awareness.
  • Assist w/ Data entry into QA Systems/websites (Dairy.com/Trace-Gains etcÖ).
  • Audit facility sanitation records, report variances and corrective action plans in support of             FSMA compliance.
  • Daily time and temperature chart review, report variances and corrective action plans in             support of FSMA compliance.
  • Review filler weights, document and report any variances.
  • Special Projects/Investigations into product variances in support of Quality Standards.
  • Support plant employee training as Required/SOP annual training for QA Team.
  • Kosher/IMS/Organic/rBST Free Listing/Certificate updates.
  • Maintain records and files for Quality Department.
  • Support internal audits in all areas of Plant-5S, GMP, Glass, Food Safety and Sanitation.
  • Perform or initiate record reviews of QA Systems with QA leadership team for FSMA, HARPC,         and SQF Compliance.
  • Support product Mock Recall Process.
  • Provide back-up coverage for the Quality Department as needed, as applicable to location.
  • Other job duties and tasks as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to reach (various types of reaching such as extend out and overhead), grasp, push, pull and handle parts and or material.  The employee is required to stand and frequently is required to walk, climb, sit, talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or smell.  The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 20 lbs. and frequently lift and or move up to 65 lbs.

SAFETY

The use of safety equipment such as hearing protection and footwear is provided.  Face shield, aprons and /or gloves will be provided.  Employees are expected to adhere to all safety procedures and follow equipment guidelines.

 

EDUCATION AND OR EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • Bachelorís degree in a science-based area (ex: Microbiology, Food Science, Dairy Science) of study preferred, or a minimum of 2 years high level plant-based laboratory experience.
  • HACCP, HARPC and/or PCQI Certifications are also preferred.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices and GFSI Auditing.
  • Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability to follow all Sanitation and Quality Policies and Procedures, and report and follow through on any deficiencies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications. 
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills. 
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs
  • Ability to lead others through change.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail. 
  • Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines. 
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends.
