Columbia Gorge Organic Juice Co. is accepting resumes for Food Safety Manager. The Food Safety Manager will be responsible for monitoring and enforcing the company’s food safety and quality policies and procedures as they are implemented in the facility. The food safety manager is also responsible for validating the quality of the manufacturing processes and verifying that operations meet expected quality standards and specifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • HACCP certified and/or SQF/BRC Practitioner certified
  • Experienced with Juice HACCP and knowledge of typical juice CCPs
  • FSMA/PCQI trained or min. 3 years equivalent experience
  • BS in Biology, Food Science or related field or min. college-level biology, chemistry, microbiology and nutrition courses completed
  • Previous lab experience, including microbiological plating and interpretation
  • Familiar with organic certification requirements, FDA, GMP and OSHA regulations
  • Knowledge of FDA labeling requirements and nutritional panel generation
  • Able to handle OSHA, FDA and GMP audits
  • Knowledge of fermentation techniques
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing within a culturally diverse demographic
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Ability to organize, plan and lead food safety and employee safety trainings
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus

Job duties include:

  • Oversight and completion of lab work and supervision of the lab technician
  • Monitoring quality of juice at all stages of production and shelf life
  • Reviewing weekly production documents and completing required corrective actions
  • Ingredient procurement and document control
  • Maintaining organic and GMP certifications
  • Maintaining FDA, FSMA and OSHA compliance
  • Updating and creating QA and SSOP and HACCP documents and manuals
  • Conducting trace exercises
  • Investigate, respond to and track customer questions and complaints
  • Product development
  • Label development and proofing
  • Planning and completion of staff training
  • For minimally qualified individuals, paid training will be available for needed certifications.

The pay for the position will be negotiated depending on experience with Food Safety management, and pertinent certifications, qualifications and education. Includes medical benefits, vacation and sick pay.
